I’ve always liked 101 classes for the simple fact that they are new uncharted territories to be explored. This month marks the start of my New Beginnings 101, where I have started my very first blog embracing life through food and all things beautiful, have decided to look baking in the eye and say you ain’t got nothin’ on me, and of course the first day of SPRING.
So this past weekend I embarked on my first baking adventure at Haven’s Kitchen, a cooking school founded on the principles of sustainable living. Their approach is a thorough and intimate one. With only 9 of us students, Pastry 101 didn’t seem so daunting. Time flew as we not only learned how simple a 3-2-1 pie dough is to make, but also as we learned from our lovely chef Anna Gordon of The Good Batch. Anna’s enthusiasm and true passion for baking made this experience feel that much more personal and memorable.
I managed to snap some tasty shots…
This dough is perfect for sweet or savory dishes. After class I rushed home and made this onion tart…IT WAS DIVINE!
